## A body-shop mechanic who went to Paris to bake

Yves Crivello spent 33 years as an auto body mechanic in Saint-Tropez, on the French Riviera, while his wife, Catherine, worked in retail. In 2006 he closed his shop and went back to school in Paris to become a baker, earning his diploma a few months later. In 2008 the couple moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona, and opened their first bakery. Four years on they came to Las Vegas, where, as Eater Vegas reported, they built a following at La Belle Terre Bread farther west on Sahara before opening Délices Gourmands in February 2016.

## Where to find it

The bakery took over a 4,375-square-foot space in the Spanish Oaks Shopping Center on West Sahara Avenue, near Palace Station and about five minutes from Las Vegas Boulevard. Breads, pastries and cakes are baked every day, and there is seating indoors and out. It also sells wholesale; ask the bakery for details.

## The café menu

Breakfast and lunch are served all day, so an omelet at 2 p.m. is no problem.

- **Breakfast:** eggs Benedict on a croissant, smoked salmon brioche with scrambled eggs, French toast
- **Sandwiches:** the Parisien (ham, Swiss and butter on a soft baguette), a pâté baguette with pickles, the Normandie with cooked apples, onions, turkey and walnuts, and croque monsieur or madame
- **Quiches:** Lorraine, Florentine, ratatouille, smoked salmon, four cheese and more, each with a side salad
- **Crêpes:** savory, such as creamy mushroom or smoked salmon with lemon mascarpone, and sweet, from sugar or Nutella to apple salted caramel
- **Also:** omelets, Niçoise and caprese salads, French onion soup, fresh-squeezed orange juice

At opening, Eater listed pastries such as croissants, brioche, kouign-amann, almond galettes, canelés, palmiers and madeleines, along with sourdough and fig-and-walnut breads. Ask at the counter what came out of the oven that morning.

**Hours:** Tuesday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed Monday. No delivery; call ahead for pickup orders.
