She is a fourth-generation florist who started learning the trade at age 8 in her grandmother’s Las Vegas shop, Claire’s Flowers, which opened in 1964. In May 2002 she opened Boulder City Florist, and her family still owns and runs it. When the Boulder City Review profiled the shop in 2014, she owned it with her husband, Dan. In 2005 the shop won Business of the Year from the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, and the shop has kept its chamber membership since January 2003. It has also moved a few times. It started in Marshall Plaza on Nevada Highway, relocated in October 2014 to a downtown storefront at 1229 Arizona Street with bigger windows for showing off arrangements, and today works from 738 Canyon Road. ## Built to order Custom work is the core of the shop. Customers describe what they have in mind and the designers build it, and the shop says it has been run by master designers since it opened, with more than 40 years of experience. The regular range covers: - Sympathy arrangements and standing sprays - Cemetery placements, including flowers for the veterans cemetery - Flowers for birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, congratulations and get-well wishes - Corsages and boutonnieres for proms and homecoming - Plants, gifts and pieces for the home, plus seasonal arrangements ### Near the veterans cemetery The shop sits close to the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, and memorial tributes honoring veterans are one of its stated specialties. It sells arrangements specifically for the veterans cemetery and handles cemetery placements, so a family does not have to carry the flowers out themselves. Same-day delivery is offered in Boulder City, including the historic district.
