## Wood hauled from South Texas

Brian Buechner grew up in South Texas, and the smoke at Big B's Texas BBQ still comes from there. He and his wife, Natalia Badzjo, both veterans of Las Vegas nightlife, opened the first Big B's in Henderson in 2016 as a side project that soon became their full-time work. The mesquite and oak in the pits come from family land in South Texas, and the couple still drive a truck out to bring the wood back. Brisket smokes overnight for about 12 hours, and the chicken and pork go on in the early morning.

## How the line works

The pits sit right behind the register, so you can watch the ribs being turned while you order. Meats are cut by hand, weighed and served on butcher paper with bread; you can order by the pound or build a plate of one, two or three meats with two sides. Brisket comes lean or moist, from the flat or the point.

After that, you serve yourself: utensils, fountain drinks, and a condiment bar with free pickles, pickled carrots, jalapeños and cherry peppers. Seating is at long wooden picnic tables or small tables for two or four, and there's a hand-washing station in the dining room.

## Henderson and Sahara Avenue

The original restaurant is on St. Rose Parkway in Henderson. A second location spent five years on Fort Apache Road before closing in May 2024; its replacement, a larger room on West Sahara Avenue near Summerlin with a bar and TVs for sports, was open by September 2025. Both are open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Reservations aren't needed, though parties of 10 or more can call ahead. For online pickup orders, bring the card you paid with and a matching ID, and plan on a 5 to 10 minute wait after check-in, since the meat isn't carved until you arrive.
