Vanessa Aramanda learned stained glass after a sandblasting job led her to experiment with designs on glass. Her daughter Amy joined the work decades later. Together they run A Glass Fantasy, a mother-and-daughter studio in the Reno/Sparks area that creates custom stained glass, repairs older pieces and teaches the craft.

The family's studio has occupied the same Sparks garage since 1986. Vanessa had moved to Reno in 1980, worked in local glass shops and taught before establishing the business. Amy, raised in Reno, earned a fine-arts degree at the University of Nevada, Reno. She began making stained glass in 2019 and also manages the studio's website and social media.

## Windows, portraits and repairs

The portfolio shows how varied a commissioned piece can be. Amy's work includes a pantry-door panel with sandblasted details, a memorial pet portrait and a panel recreating a family painting for a hall tree. Some projects combine her construction with Vanessa's painted-glass details. The online gallery identifies the makers, materials and dimensions of individual pieces.

The business also sells finished work through its shop and provides repair services. Its frequently asked questions direct repair inquiries to the studio's business email, allowing the owners to discuss the particular piece before offering a quote.

## Learning at Copper Cat

Because the working studio is part of a private home, in-person meetings are by appointment. Workshops take place at Copper Cat Studio in Sparks instead. Independent arts coverage and PBS have featured Vanessa and Amy, and the studio's FAQ says its workshops are taught at Copper Cat Studio.

The studio offers consultations around the greater Reno–Tahoe area and works with customers farther away as well. Its website separates custom work, available pieces, repairs and workshops, giving visitors several ways to engage with the family business and the craft behind it.
